The Red Cross will present the Prepare program explaining general disaster preparedness. The participants will: Get Informed about disasters that can hit your area; Go Over Written Plans about how you will prepare for and deal with disasters, and Learn to Build “Kits” with supplies needed for disasters.

How Bend Became the Center of the Lumber Industry

Sponsored by Deschutes County Library System. Local historian Tor Hanson takes you on a trip to 1905 Bend to explain why the city ended up becoming the center of the lumber industry and home to two of the largest pine mills in the United States in the ’20s and ’30s.

Sunriver Nature Center: Upper Deschutes River Cleanup

We will meet at the Sunriver Nature Center at 9:00am, break into several small groups and head out to locations within Sunriver along the Upper Deschutes and near Benham Falls. All supplies provided, including bags and vinyl gloves.
