March 21, 2019 @ 3:00 pm – 4:30 pm
Sunriver Area Library
56855 Venture Ln

The UDRC March meeting focus will address how we as individuals and communities can be prepared when a wildfire or other natural disaster occurs in our near our area. Our speakers will be Sergeant Nathan Garibay, Deschutes County Sheriff Emergency Services Manager and PJ Johnson, Red Cross Community Volunteer Leader.

Sergeant Garibay will discuss:
How residents can prepare their homes and their families to facilitate a safer and more efficient evacuation.
The process the Sheriff’s office utilizes to determine how and when to evacuate.
Considerations for evacuation and contingencies.

PJ Johnson will provide information about the Red Cross efforts during and after a major catastrophic event. The Red Cross is generally one of the first responders when tragedy strikes providing shelter, serving meals, relief supplies, medical care, and recovery assistance. Handouts will be available with checklists for being prepared before the event occurs and the post event recovery.
